MEMORABILIA
THE COLORS

“If all life inevitably comes to an end, we must, during ours, color it with our colors of love and hope.” said Marc Chagall. Since its beginnings, CASTELBAJAC Paris has colored our lives, thanks to the handling of its favorite primary colors, the Red, the Blue and the Yellow.

These three inimitable colors which are being part of the brand DNA, offer an infinite panel of creations like the infinite colors of the color wheel they are composing.

The colors emerge from childhood memories and mark the CASTELBAJAC Paris collections with a funny stroke and a timeless youth spirit.

This particular stroke has allowed the brand to forge itself a place among the contemporary creation world and brings a new breath to dress and societal codes. Indeed, the bright colors come to counteract the silhouettes powdered, pastels and generally without taking of risk.

Rooted in a multidisciplinary artistic universe, the brand was strongly inspired by the Memphis movement, which decompartmentalizes to democratize the worlds of Art, Design and Fashion just like CASTELBAJAC Paris. They share another common vocation which is to make color an integral part of creation, previously reduced at a secondary row.

Originally founded by Ettore Sottsass in Milan in the 80s, the Memphis movement has been composed by an Italian designers and architects group. Their leitmotif it’s to add fantasy and eccentricity into design, which was reduced to its functionality until then.

These radical artists, want to upset the codes and are characterized as “anti-taste” diffusers. Their watchwords: rock attitude, humor and freedom. This is why they haven’t been guided by any manifest – except: color using.
Thus CASTELBAJAC Paris draws its energy from famous artists close to this movement such as: Keith Haring, Mondrian or Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The colors are evolving every seasons and continue to impose themselves into the current artistic universe. Indeed, for two years, we can see a come back to the Memphis movement opposed to the widespread Scandinavian style.
