THE ART OF THE BRICK : DC SUPER HEROS

“We can be heroes… Just with one brick”

Superman by Nathan Sawaya

After an international tour, the exhibition takes place in Paris at La Villette from April 29th to August 19th 2018.
David Bowie could have adapted the words of his famous song to this exceptional exhibition: The Art of the Brick – DC Super Heros.
The artist at the heart of this exhibition is Nathan Sawaya, this former corporate lawyer from New York left everything to devote himself to his passions: Lego sculpture and DC Super Heros. This enthusiast builds his sculptures in a warehouse where are carefully arranged more than 4 million bricks according to their colors, shapes and sizes.

The Art of Brick presents over 120 monumental works including the Batmobile.

The Batmobile by Nathan Sawaya

In the archives of the House we can find the use of these colored bricks in the form of prints or accessories in the Spring/Summer 2009 Collection “In the Sky with Diamonds”.

But the Super Heroes have also inspired the House, will you recognize the two Super Heros hidden behind those looks?

You recognized them, didn’t you?

We find Super Girl in the 2009 Spring/Summer Collection “In the Sky with Diamonds” and a mask make-up in the Fall/Winter 2003 Collection that looks disturbingly similar to Batman.

CASTELBAJAC Paris advises the Exhibition The Art of the Brick – DC Super Heros at La Villette from April 29 to August 19, 2018 which will delight young and old people !
